GTA04-Early Adopter Kit

We are still in the middle of the development of the final GTA04 (www.gta04.org) product. But we now want to broaden the number of participants and let more and more enthusiasts participate in the final development stages.
One major issue in doing this is that some main components (CPU, Memory, UMTS-Module) have quite a long lead time and we can't afford to order them in big batches before we know that someone wants to finally buy a GTA04.
Therefore, we have started this Early Adoper Program.
If you are ordering a GTA04-Early-Adopter, we will take your money to
order and stock the most critical components. These are
- TI OMAP 3530 DCBB (600/720/; maybe DM3730 with 1GHz)
- Micron DDR/NAND PoP Memory
- Option GTM601W UMTS module
- Wi2Wi WLAN/Bluetooth module + antenna
- GPS module + antenna switch
- all connectors
The Upgrade Kit will include:
- LIS302 (accelerometer)
- LSM303 (compass and accelerometer)
- ITG3200 (gyroscope)
- BMP085 (barometric altimeter)
- Si4721 (FM transceiver)
In parallel we order the new GTA04A3 PCBs. So that we can produce your boards as soon as all components are available. Thererfore, by participating, you make a reservation to get a GTA04 board for development as soon as possible.
Regarding pricing, we have choosen a price that we find is a bargain for such a module (think "BeagleBoard + UMTS") and allows as many persons as possible to participate. As you may imagine, this does not cover the full production cost, especially for small quantities. Therefore we want to make clear that the final GTA04 (but then tested with all functions) will be more expensive.
Finally, if you are looking for a cheaper alternative to participate, please check with the Openmoko Beagle Hybrid kit.

- only one GTA04A3-EA per order
- the price is fixed (and subsidized by donations)
- your request is only complete if payment is received timely (you will get a confirmation)
- this is a engineering component not intended for consumers
- it is individually manufactured for you
- therefore there is no warranty/exchange
- it may not work completely but at least CPU, Display, Touch, Memory, MMC/SD, RS232, UMTS-USB (data)
- display is not included (you can take one by disassembling a Openmoko Freerunner)
- not all features are available in the base variant (e.g. no sensors, no IrDA, no FM-Radio, no Camera) but you can upgrade
- not all features are supported by the kernel and may need your help to get them operational
- this module has no CE/R&TTE/FCC, therefore you are yourself responsible for import and compliance
- we can't specify which CPU clock speed we get and which memory size (depends on chip lead time)
- a system manual (approx. 50 pages) and the schematics will be provided on delivery
- availability is planned for February/March 2011 but depends on arrival of components
- there may be certain export restrictions and therefore we may decline your request
